이희단, 정성원, 홍우인의 3인전 《EXCAVATORS(발굴자들)》는 현실과 가상을 넘나들며 대상을 소비하는 디깅(digging)이 만연한 이 세계에서 진정한 발굴의 의미를 질문하고, 그것으로부터 이탈한 주변적 존재들, 대안적 방법론, 위반적 행위 등을 되돌아본다. 여기서 작동시키려는 것은 포섭한 모든 것을 자원화하고 수단으로써 갈아버리는 굴삭기가 아닌, 발전하는 기술력의 맹점을 찾고 체계에 순응하는 행위자들의 자리를 갈아내는 장치이다. 이러한 점에서 이 얄궂은 발굴자들은 어딘가 나사가 풀려있고 (혹은 유달리 조여져 있고), 의심이라는 중요한 유물에게 제 몫 만큼의 땅을 마땅히 찾아내어주려 하는 것이다.

EXCAVATORS, a group show by Ridane Lee, Sungwon Jung and Wooin Hong, questions the meaning of true excavation while facing a world where the act of digging is diverted toward the exploitation of things and beings. Against the dominant tendencies, the trio reflects on marginalized existences and maneuvers alternative methodologies or violating acts that uncover the loopholes of advancing technology. Watching them grind away at the seats of system conformists, we could say these ironic excavators have one or two screws loose (or too tight). We could also say these ones try to find the doubt - a crucial relic - an acre of ground it rightfully deserves.
